Our Gait Evaluation Center houses the Alamo Pintado Motion Camera System, a state-of-the-art, twelve-camera gait analysis system. The system allows us to objectively evaluate a horse’s gait in a manner that can be tracked and monitored over time.
The system, which is the first one in a private practice in the United States, is very sensitive at detecting gait abnormalities and helps aid in the diagnosis of complex lameness and performance issues.
The initial evaluation takes about 30 minutes and only requires that we temporarily attach a few small markers on the horse’s head, withers, and pelvis. Movement of these markers is tracked by the twelve cameras as the horse jogs through the camera system. The system allows us to detect subtle changes in a horse’s gait. When the evaluation is complete you and your veterinarian will receive a summary of the findings.
