Stallion Reproduction Services Team Spotlight

Reproduction is equal parts science and art, and doctors Hamer, Teske, Stevenson and Parks deliver a full range of services to our clients including stallion and mare fertility exams, pregnancy evaluation and artificial insemination as well as advice on breeding and pre-foaling management strategies. Alamo Pintado now offers Oocyte Aspiration for the ICSI procedure. Through our ongoing relationship with UC Davis Veterinary Assisted Reproduction Laboratory (VetART), we can now offer the services on a regular basis to mares. What was once reserved as a tool to handle sub-fertility, is now an available resource to help mares stay in competition and provide genetic insurance. The advancements in technologies have now allowed us to store vitrified, frozen embryos on site and transfer them when a recipient mare comes available.

Susie Kahn, PhD and Zach Kahn recently joined us from Texas having have both worked in the breeding industry for over 10 years. Prior to completing her PhD at Texas A&M University in Epidemiology, Susie worked as a breeding manager in North Texas where she managed some outstanding Quarter Horse broodmares and stallions. Zach brings with him experience having worked at a custom reproduction center, where he traveled the country freezing stallion semen in the fall and managing stallions in North Texas for cooled semen during breeding season.

We are grateful to have this duo bring their knowledge and depth of experience to Alamo Pintado as the perfect compliment to our expanding reproduction program and to the work our veterinarians are already doing with stallions and mares in our region.
